All roads led from Nollywood to the Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort in Cross Rivers yesterday as the 2013 Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) commenced. As always, Nigeria’s actors and actresses held forte and presented themselves at the event, which will run till the 17th of November 2013. Some faces at the event include those of Rita Dominic, Omoni Oboli, Chioma Chukwuka- Akpotha, Uche Jombo and many more. More photos after the cut:

Gov. Sullivan Chime finally throws wife out of official residence

The controversy over the alleged detention of First Lady of Enugu State, Clara Chime, by her husband, Governor Sullivan Chime, has reportedly intensified after it was revealed that Governor Chime threw his wife out of the government house. News reports have it that Mrs. Chime was bundled out of the government house, personal effects and all, by the security officers attached to her husband. Mrs. Chime was then reportedly driven to her mother’s residence at House 38 in the Coal City Estate within the Enugu metropolis. ThisDay Newspaper reports: Mrs. Chime, who THISDAY gathered struggled to depart with her four-year-old son, was bundled into a convoy of six cars and taken to her mother’s home. However, on getting there, the mother who had not been notified that her daughter was being brought home, was not at home which forced Mrs. Chime and the security operatives to sit in their cars waiting for her mother to return. It's about time :ASSU set to call off strike dis week

A tentative date has finally been set for the end of the over four-month old strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities. According to reports, the academic body might call off the industrial action, that has kept university students at home, on Thursday. The National Executive Committee of ASUU is reportedly expected to meet on Wednesday to deliberate on matters pertinent to the strike and its objectives. Nigerian Eye reports: The union met with a Federal Government team led by President Goodluck Jonathanlast Tuesday in Abuja. The ASUU leadership, after briefing the zonal coordinators on the offer, had directed the local branches to organise congress meetings between Friday last week and Tuesday (tomorrow). This is to enable all the lecturers to make input into the action the union would take after its NEC meeting on Thursday.
